Description

Description:

Vibrant brick red in colour, the Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz displays lifted cherries, black berries and spice with very subtle oak. The wine is medium - soft bodied, has a generous ripe fruit and great length and balance on the palate. Integrated cedar oak sweetness and fresh acidity give this wine structure and balance. This Shiraz is best consumed now, or within the next 4 years.

Grape Variety - Shiraz

Winemaker's Notes - After crushing and destemming, the juice was fermented in stainless steel vats, to retain maximum varietal freshness. After fermentation at temperatures between 18-23 degrees celsius, 100% of the wine was given malolactic fermentation before half of the wine was matured in 3 and 4 year old French and American barriques for 12 months.

Background Information - The Valley Growers Cooperative was formed in 1985 by enterprising Barossa Valley vignerons to sell and market wines under the Barossa Valley Estate label and hence alleviate some of the pressures they were facing in selling their fruit. Since its inception and with the assistance of a strategic alliance with the BRL Hardy Wine Company, the cooperative has grown and prospered, developing a reputation for excellence both domestically and abroad.
