The Blair Athol distillery was founded in 1798, and was originally named "Aldour" after the "Allt Dour" burn which provides the distillery's water source. The distillery had a troubled early start, changing ownership a number of times until it was finally acquired by Arthur Bell & Sons in 1933.
Blair Athol was to become one of the most important components in the Bell's whisky blend, though the distillery occasionally releases their own single malt offerings. |
