Bruichladdich distillery was founded in 1881 by William, John, and Robert Harvey, brothers on the Isle of Islay. The family had a history of whisky distillation dating back over a century beforehand and the brothers used an inheritance combined with their talents to establish their own distillery.
Bruichladdich was built as a state of the art facility in 1881, and though it has changed owners over the years, the current team remain as progressive as ever. The team believes firmly in terroir, a concept more commonly found in the world of wine; the idea that all the environmental factors that affect the raw crops impart their own character on the final product. |
