Chateau Lynch-Bages was founded in 1749 by Thomas Lynch whose father emigrated from Ireland to Bordeaux and inherited an estate in the village of Bages. The estate received fifth growth classification in the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855.
The Chateau today is owned by the Cazes family who acquired it in 1938. The estate owns 90 hectares of vineyards just outside the town of Pauillac overlooking the Gironde estuary. The vineyards are almost entirely planted with red grape varieties with just 4.5 hectares given to white varieties. |
