Cloudy Bay

In 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of the first handful of wine makers to venture into Marlborough. At the time, it was a near unthinkable place to set-up a vineyard. But Cloudy Bay's founder, David Hohnen, was convinced of its winemaking potential and invested in the best land of the area. Since then, Marlborough has risen to become New Zealand's leading wine region, as well as one of the finest in the world.

Named after Cloudy Bay in Northeast New Zealand, a body of water explorer Captain James Cook discovered on his voyages, it was one of the first New Zealand wines to be widely exported and came to attention for its fruit-forward style and very pronounced varietal character. Cloudy Bay produces Chardonnay and Pinot noir wines, but the Sauvignon blanc remains its standard-bearer.
