The Dalmore 25 year old expression uses an entirely unique cask finish in its creation. The whisky is first matured in American white oak before being divided in to Palomino sherry butts and first fill bourbon casks. After this, the two are married together in bourbon barrels before a final maturation in Tawny Port pipes. This complex masterwork is a product of the dedication and creativity of Master Blender Richard Paterson whose talent has created a whisky as exceptional as it is unique. A deep golden amber colour, on the nose initially aromas of toffee and marzipan greet you, followed by fruitier aromas including The Dalmore's signature notes of orange. Hints, too, of leather, licorice and ginger. A rich, honeyed taste with some chocolate sweetness and candied orange peel. Licorice and some spicy black peppercorns with a touch of cinnamon. The orange and spice flavours linger alongside dark chocolate notes through to the finish.
