Description

Description:

Vinedo Chadwick 2014 scores a perfect 100 points by James Suckling - considered one of the world’s most influential wine critic according to Forbes. This 2014 vintage is the first time a wine from Chile has achieved 100 points. This perfect score positions Maipo Alto, Chile among the most prestigious world-class appellations for red wines, amongst Bordeaux, Tuscany and Napa. Vinedo Chadwick has a deep violet-ruby-red colour with an intense and complex nose, with aromas of blueberry, blackcurrant and black liquorice. Full bodied, whilst at the same time refined. It's beautiful with a stunning length and complexity. It has a transparency that shows amazing greatness and beauty. Production volume of the 2014 vintage was half normal. A fine wine with energy and brightness. It's Chile’s first perfect wine and well deserved too. Viñedo Chadwick is a wine that defines the greatness of Chile with a purity, structure, and finesse that competes with the best reds in the world. A wine that defines both elegance and power. It's ready to drink now or carefully cellar up to 2037 for further depth and complexity.

Background Information: This wine is a tribute to Alfonso Chadwick Errazuriz, an influential businessman and avid sportsman who was a celebrated polo champion in Chile. He was a pioneer in the development of modern Chilean viticulture, to which he dedicated his greatest efforts. Vinedo Chadwick is located in one of the best areas of the Maipo Valley. The vineyard is densely planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Carmenere, which are carefully managed to ensure the production of the superior quality fruit. To preserve that quality, the grapes were harvested by hand during the early morning hours. The individual lots of wine were aged for 22 months in new French oak barrels before blending and bottling.
