Glenmorangie The Nectar 16 Year Old Single Malt Whisky was inspired by Dr Bill Lumsden, the Master Distiller, reminiscing of the scents and flavours of entering a French pastry shop. The first creation of a whisky with dessert-like complexity was Glenmorangie The Nectar D’Or. The swirls of sweet scents and spice have now been taken to new heights of deliciousness, in Glenmorangie The Nectar. Aged for longer, at 16 years and soaked in an enhanced combination of bourbon and sweet white wine casks. This latest incarnation of Glenmorangie Nectar is more sumptuous and complex.
For added depth and creaminess, silky Glenmorangie aged bourbon casks for 14 years was selected. The whisky was then finished in a combination of sweet white wine casks for a further two years.
Sauternes and Monbazillac casks from France add sumptuous notes of pastry, brioche, meringue and baked apples. Moscatel casks sourced from Spain offer further sweet and syrupy dessert-like notes. And the Tokaji casks from Hungary, add touches of white chocolate, almond and honeycomb flavours.
Colour: Bronze Gold.
Nose: Decadent with notes of baking brioche, baked apricot, vanilla pudding, toasted almond and hints of chocolate truffles.
Taste: Rich and sticky with swirls of honeycomb, orange syrup and brioche, balanced by a soft drumbeat of spice and lemon zestiness.
Finish: Long and lingering, with some lemon rind, baking break and a touch of honeycomb.
Serving: Enjoy neat, or add a splash of water or 2-3 large rocks of ice.
