Hangar One

Hangar 1 vodka is produced by St. George Spirits, founded by Jorg Rupf who at the time was Germany's youngest judge. After visiting California in the 1970s he decided to stay and follow his family's distilling heritage creating America's first eau de vie distillery. 7

In 2001, a discussion with another distiller led to the idea of producing a vodka in a similar fashion. Not finding a vodka they liked, some too harsh and feeling that all of them lacked depth they set about making a vodka from the finest grapes and Midwestern grain to make a perfectly balanced vodka. The vodka is named after the World War II-era aircraft hangar in which the distillery is based.
