Henkell & Cie was founded in 1832 by wine lover Adam Henkell, initially as a wine shop in Mainz. In 1856, he commissioned the construction of a "Champagne factory", thus becoming the first person in Germany to master sparkling wine production.
Through the early 20th century, Henkell marketed their brand heavily under the guidance of the pioneering Otto Henkell, commissioning noted artists to produce ads for print publications. Today, the name Henkell is synonymous with German sparkling wine and is enjoyed in over 100 countries around the world. |
