The story of Jose Cuervo begins in 1795 when Jose Maria Guadalupe Cuervo was granted the first ever license by King Carlos IV to produce and distribute tequila. This would mark the start of the tequila industry and make Jose Cuervo the first ever Tequila brand. Unlike many drinks, the tequila industry grew during the prohibition era when smugglers would bring it into the US, and then again during World War II when a lot of US distilleries focused on war production.
Throughout the centuries, Jose Cuervo has led the way, not only as the original, but also as the world's best-selling tequila. A title it continues to hold today. |
