Ken Forrester wines are the product of one of the oldest wine farms in South Africa: Scholtzenhof, dating back to 1689. The farm was run successfully by a succession of families for 300 years until falling upon hard times in the early 1990s. In 1993, the Forrester family acquired the historic location, restoring it to its former splendour.
Establishing a winery as a part of the renovations, the Forresters recruited their friend, top winemaker, Martin Meinert to aid them in a quest to create a world-class Chenin Blanc. Today, the international acclaim of the brand suggests they may have succeeded in doing just that. |
