Kopparberg
Kopparberg was founded in 1882, created as an amalgamation of 36 local brewers in the small Swedish town of the same name. Though closed after its purchase by a Swiss company solely interested in drawing on the brewery's excellent soft water source, it was later re-acquired in 1993 by brothers Peter and Dan-Anders Bronsman with a dream of running a national champion brewery. After a rocky start when the brewery burned down in 1995 the brothers took a chance to reinvent the brand and since then have grown explosively and in just 20 years has become Sweden's largest brewing company. |
