Malibu is a rum-based coconut liqueur. It was introduced in 1893 originally as an aid for bartenders in simplifying the creation of pina coladas. When it proved successful, production was moved to Barbados where the production quality was improved.
Although other similar products have appeared, Malibu remains today the best-selling brand of rum and coconut spirit in the world. Malibu is extremely versatile in creating cocktails, including in the traditional pina colada. |
