Montagny from Joseph Drouhin is a fine-tuned white from this prestigious appellation in the Cote Chalonnais. The nose is dominated by apples and almonds, with a faint spritz of lemon aromas.
Montagny is one of the four communes of the Cote Chalonnaise. It is the southernmost appellation. The vineyards are planted on a series of hills in the shape of a horseshoe. The soil is limestone and clay. Vine are planted to a density of 10,000 stocks per hectare and pruned using the Guyot system. The yield is just 57 hl/ha and is kept low on purpose, in order to reveal every nuance from the terroir.
