Soberano brandy is produced by Gonzalez Byass, one of the best-known sherry bodegas in Spain. Its origins date back to 1835 when it was founded by Manuel Maria Gonzalez Angel and Robert Blake Byass. The Gonzalez family, who took sole ownership in 1988, have a variety of odd and varied claims to fame, having been involved in introducing polo to Spain, the first grass tennis court and the first train project in Spain.
Soberano brandy is distilled from Airen grapes, before maturing in a solera system, wherein younger brandies are carefully blended with older brandies through a series of stages of maturation, gradually taking characteristics from both the oldest brandies and the oak casks. |
