Taittinger

Taittinger champagne house was originally founded in 1734 by Jacques Fourneaux working with the Benedictine Abbeys. The house was acquired in 1931 by Pierre Taittinger who fell in love with the property after being stationed there during World War I. The Taittinger house style was driven by Pierre's son Francois, who understood consumers increasingly appreciated lighter, more elegant champagnes and chose Chardonnay as the dominant grape variety.

The third generation of the Taittinger family continues to run the house today, making it one of only a few houses to be owned by the family whose name appears on the label.
