Bodega Torres was founded in 1870 by Jaime Torres. Having made his fortune in the oil industry, he went into business with his brother, a wine grower. In 1928, the company began distilling wine to produce brandy. The company saw setbacks during the Spanish Civil War and then during World War II, but their pioneering attitude allowed them to bounce back.
Today, the company owns vineyards and wineries in Chile and California and is the largest winery in Spain. Torres exports wines to over 140 countries around the world and the family are founding members of the Primum Familiae Vini, an international association consisting of some of the world's finest wine producing families. |
