Underberg digestive liqueur was created by Hubert Underberg in 1846. Inspired by a digestive bitter he had encountered in the Netherlands and Belgium, Underberg worked for years to create a more consistent product, for he had always found the quality of the bitters variable, and was invariably diluted to differing degrees with genever. Thus, Underberg was created according to the motto "Semper Idem" meaning it would always be of the same quality and have the same effect.
This commitment to consistent quality has made Underberg a popular digestif worldwide, easily recognisable by its iconic bottles designed to serve the ideal quantity every time. |
