Description

Description:

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame has a pale gold colour with jade glints. The wine is crystal clear, with unbelievably fine bubbles. On the first nose, typical Chardonnay characteristics come to the fore, with the arrival of floral and mineral aromas (acacia, ferns, chalk). By agitating the wine, scents of candied fruit (citrus fruits, apricots, quince) and sweet almond emerge, to reappear later in the mouth. After rotating the wine for a few minutes more, rare notes such as peaty malt, tobacco and delicate herbs, are gradually unveiled. This aromatic, impressively complex bouquet is confirmed in the mouth. On the palate, the wine is clear-cut and pure, perfectly balanced with a delightful silky smoothness. La Grande Dame, with its lace-like construction, has a long, lively, and structured finish. This wine has unbelievable ageing potential.

Background: Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin's Prestige Cuvee, La Grande Dame, is a very great wine which pays homage to a very great lady in the champagne world, Madame Clicquot. The incomparable finesse of this cuvee results from a blend of eight of the house's traditional Grand Crus. Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame, the quintessence of the Veuve Clicquot style, reaches a peak of refinement, without losing its legendary strength produced by a blend including nearly two-thirds of Pinot Noir. La Grande Dame is a unique wine, with its own place in history, and presented in a flawless bottle evoking the simplicity of traditional shapes. It is made from eight historic Grand Crus - Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Aÿ, Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Oger. Beneath the freshness and delicacy of Chardonnay lie the rich aromas of Pinot Noir, emblematic of Veuve Clicquot's tradition. La Grande Dame is left to mature in the Veuve Clicquot chalk cellars: it will rest for at least six years after the harvest and only after that time will it testify to an exceptional vintage in your glass. Perfect for a refined, intimate pre-dinner drink, La Grande Dame will delight the finest palates and give an exclusive dimension to the start of a meal.
