Port Wine is sometimes known as Vinho do Porto or Porto but most commonly simply as Port. Port is produced exclusively in the Douro Valley region of the northern provinces of Portugal. Neutral grape spirit is added to the wine during the fermentation process in order to stop it and preserve some sugar content. The result is a typically sweeter style of wine which is often aged in barrels before bottling.
